| Samugi(Samue) was originally a working wear of Japanese Zen monks. In Zen, besides meditation(Zazen), rutine work(Samu), such as cleaning, washing or farming is considered to be an important practice to shut out idle thoughts from one's mind. Samugi has been traditionally worn by monks when doing Samu. Because it's a very practical and confortble outfit, today it is also pupular among people other than monks, especially among artists, martial artists, or Japanese restaurant staffs. |
